Happy 2010 to all who made it. Give Thanks to the ALMIGHTY. This year if you trust HIM, 2009 with all its difficulties will make sense, as many things that you hoped for will mysteriously begin to flourish. I can already feel it. Can you?!
How glorious our Faith is! Rather than restricting hearts, as the world prefers, it uplifts them and increases their capacity to love.
-St. Therese of Lisieux
Kindness is a revolution that needs as many leaders as possible. When will we know we have succeeded? When we look behind us and see no followers, only people walking beside us, doing their best to meet life with an open heart. ~Margo Silk Forrest
2009 Quote of the Year
LIVE BY YOUR FAITH
Each golden sunrise ushers in new opportunities for those who retain faith in themselves, and keep their chins up...Meet each sunrise with confidence. Fill every golden minute with right thinking and worthwhile endeavor. Do this and there will be joy for you in each golden sunset.
~Alonzo Newton Benn
2008 Quote of the Year
We are now faced with the fact, my friends, that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men does not remain at flood-it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is adamant to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words, "Too late." There is an invisible book of life that faithfully records our vigilance or our neglect. Omar Khayyam is right: "The moving finger writes, and having writ moves on." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." -Howard Thurman

2007 Person of the Year
Nurse Anna M. Hall
Thank God for Mama
This year, many organizations, governmental and non governmental, have seen fit to honour my mother for her contribution to the field of nursing in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. She has been at it for almost fifty years and presently holds the record for the midwife to have delivered or assisted in the delivery of the most babies in the Country. We shall write an extensive article on her accomplishments shortly but we use this instant to crown her our "befaith Person of the Year."
At the tender age of 15, Mark Moultrie Jr., lost his mother to cancer, and not long after, his father, a police officer, was transferred to another Island for work related duties. For sometime, MJ (as we call him) was forced to endure the hardships of grief, growing up, unreconciled hostility towards God and family, clinical depression and balancing his day to day finances, alone. These challenges stifled in him his true potential for a few years and rendered him at best, mediocre.
But with the intervention of that transformative love of God, MJ somehow found the strength to turn his hardship into the energy that puts one on the path to greatness. I have had the privilege of seeing this caterpillar of a boy gradually become a butterfly of a young, intelligent, respectful and grateful man. With a GPA of 3.87 at Florida Memorial College, MJ also serves as VP of his senior class, treasurer of the Finance Club and member of the Honor Roll, FMA Finance Honor Society, Dean's List, Alpha Phi Alpha Frat. Inc., Alpha Chi Honor Society and the President's Men.
Mark Moultrie Jr., makes me so very proud. His life reflects a testimony that is so very powerful and inspirational. It is indeed an honor from God to serve as his "Mumsy" as he affectionately calls me, one of his mentors, and friend. And so with much love and great pride, I congratulate him for hitting a 4.0 this semester.

The Bahamas' Very Own
A high jump into your heart
So one day this teenager is clowning on the basketball court apparently high jumping through the air to make slam dunks. The next thing you know, he's the world champion in the sport of high jump. And what makes the story so heart warming is that it all started because he accepted the challenge of doing something he had never done before. With the wrong shoes, a seriously humble disposition, almost a Master's degree, and unbridled determination, Donald Thomas has now secured his place not just in the annals of sporting history but his place is sure in the hearts of the people of his beloved Bahamaland. You Go Boy!

Words of Wisdom
"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you'll help them to become what they are capable of becoming." -Goethe
"Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don't look back at it too long. Mistakes are life's way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come." -- Og Mandino
"To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right." -- Confucius
